Typography API

API documentation for the React Typography component. Learn about the available props and the CSS API.

Import

import Typography from '@mui/material/Typography';
// or
import { Typography } from '@mui/material';
You can learn about the difference by reading this guide on minimizing bundle size.

Component name

The name MuiTypography can be used when providing default props or style overrides in the theme.

Props

Props of the native component are also available.

The component maps the variant prop to a range of different HTML element types. For instance, subtitle1 to <h6>. If you wish to change that mapping, you can provide your own. Alternatively, you can use the component prop.

As a CSS utility, the Typography component also supports all system properties. You can use them as props directly on the component.

The ref is forwarded to the root element.
